Benefits of Buying Second Hand High Tip Buckets

If you own a Volvo L150 wheel loader, you know that having a high tip bucket is essential for efficient and safe operation. High tip buckets allow you to load materials into high-sided trucks or containers, making your work easier and more productive. But if you’re in the market for a high tip bucket, you may want to consider buying a second-hand one instead of a brand new one. Here are some benefits of buying a second-hand high tip for your Volvo L150.

1: Cost Savings

One of the most significant benefits of buying a second-hand high tip for your Volvo L150 is the cost savings. Second-hand buckets are often significantly cheaper than new ones, and you can save thousands of dollars by opting for a used bucket. This cost savings can be especially important if you’re a small business owner or have a limited budget.

2: Reduced Environmental Impact

Buying second-hand equipment is also a sustainable choice that can help reduce your environmental impact. When you buy a new bucket, you’re contributing to the demand for new resources, energy, and materials. By purchasing a second-hand bucket, you’re reducing the demand for new production and minimizing waste.

3: Proven Performance

Another benefit of buying a second-hand high tip for your Volvo L150 is that you can often find buckets that have already been used in similar applications. This means that the bucket has a proven track record of performance and reliability, so you can be confident that it will work well for your needs. You can also ask the seller for information on the bucket’s previous use and maintenance history to help you make an informed decision.

4: Availability

Second-hand high tip buckets for the Volvo L150 are widely available, so you can easily find one that fits your needs and budget. There are many online marketplaces and auction sites where you can browse used equipment listings, or you can check with local dealers or rental companies

Bulk Density Finder

Why Bulk Density Matters

The bulk density of the material you’re handling has a direct impact on the performance, safety and efficiency of your loading shovel attachment. Knowing the correct bulk density helps you select the right bucket capacity, avoid overloading, maximise payloads and reduce unnecessary wear on your machine. Use our Bulk Density Finder to estimate the weight of your material before choosing your attachment.

Type in your material, choose from the options and find out the bulk density of the materials you are looking to move.

Second Hand High Tip Bucket Volvo L150 FAQs
    1. Is the high tip bucket correctly matched to a Volvo L150’s lifting capacity, tipping load and hydraulic performance?

    Key Technical Considerations

    • Bucket capacity, including struck and heaped capacity
    • Bucket tare weight
    • Overall tipping height and forward reach
    • Maximum payload at full lift
    • Hydraulic operating pressure requirements
    • Recommended material densities (kg/m³)

    Why does it matter?

An incorrectly sized bucket can reduce stability, increase tyre and axle loading, and place excessive stress on the loader arms.

The bucket’s capacity, empty weight and centre of gravity should all be matched to the Volvo L150’s operating specifications.

Correct bucket specification ensures safe operation, optimum payload and reliable hydraulic performance.

    2. What condition are the bucket’s structural components and tipping mechanism in?

    Key Technical Considerations

    • Condition of pivot pins and bushes
    • Wear within hinge assemblies
    • Hydraulic ram condition and chrome rod quality
    • Weld integrity on the tipping frame
    • Inspection for cracks around high-stress areas
    • Straightness of the chassis and side plates
    • Evidence of previous structural repairs

    Why does it matter?

High tip buckets experience repeated shock loading, particularly around the pivot points and tipping frame.

Structural wear can lead to expensive repairs, reduced reliability and compromised operational safety.

A thorough structural inspection helps confirm that the bucket remains safe, straight and suitable for continued service.

    3. What level of wear remains on the cutting edge and wear protection components?

    Key Technical Considerations

    • Remaining thickness of the cutting edge
    • Heel plate wear
    • Floor plate thickness
    • Condition of side wear strips
    • Side cutter condition
    • Wear around the spill guard
    • Internal floor abrasion
    • Availability of bolt-on replacement wear parts

    Why does it matter?

The wear package largely determines the bucket’s remaining service life.

Excessive wear affects loading efficiency, material penetration and future maintenance costs.

Assessing the remaining wear allowance helps establish the bucket’s true condition and likely ownership costs.

    4. Is the attachment interface compatible with my Volvo L150 or other wheel loader?

    Key Technical Considerations

    • Volvo BM attachment bracket dimensions
    • Pin diameters and spacing
    • Locking mechanism compatibility
    • Loader linkage geometry
    • Hydraulic hose routing and connection sizes
    • Auxiliary hydraulic requirements where fitted
    • Overall attachment width compared with the machine specification

    Why does it matter?

Even when advertised for a Volvo L150, the attachment may use a different coupling system or require modifications.

Incorrect fitment can increase installation costs, delay commissioning and affect safe operation.

Verifying the interface before purchase ensures straightforward installation and correct attachment performance.

    5. Has the bucket been refurbished, and what maintenance history is available?

    Key Technical Considerations

    • Replacement of pins and bushes
    • Hydraulic cylinder overhaul or seal replacement
    • New hydraulic hoses and fittings
    • Line boring carried out where required
    • Replacement cutting edge or wear plates
    • Crack testing and structural inspections completed
    • Blast cleaning and industrial paint finish
    • Service records and refurbishment documentation

    Why does it matter?

A professionally refurbished bucket can often provide many years of reliable service.

Buyers need to distinguish between a cosmetic repaint and genuine mechanical and structural restoration.

A documented refurbishment history provides confidence in the bucket’s condition, reliability and remaining working life.
